Quadrille #201: Poems of Place
It was a celebration Sue looked forward to, a happy birthday party for her husband. She had planned it so there was plenty of room for all guests and their children with a play area close. The area also included a converted school bus where the kids of any age could have their face painted and do crafts. Sue was there to greet them all, most strangers to her were from her husband’s office. The day seemed to go flawlessly and when the tray with the birthday cake was brought out, candles aflame, everyone oohed and ahhed. Mark was all smiles as one of the office personnel raised a glass in a toast to him.
That’s when the trouble started. The woman giving the toast suddenly stripped off her clothes revealing a tiny string bikini and went over and planted a big kiss on Sue’s husband. Luckily most small children were inside the bus. Mark backed away and the woman’s friend grabbed the toasted toaster and left the party. Apparently the woman had a secret crush on Mark. The party was subdued after that incident and everyone left early. It is doubtful Sue or Mark rested easily that night.

MLMM Wordle #372
Restless waves slip in and out of the dark cave as marbled walls display flickering moonlit shadows. Joe’s pulse quickened as he fought the restraints repeatedly. The chance he might escape was minimal; he knew it. Why he decided to join the group now seemed a stupid and dangerous endeavor.
Joe started out as a fan of the music, a seemingly soul searching cry in the words. He should not have gone online to follow them as now they had his entire information at their hands. His first attendance at a concert of theirs seemed to fill a void in his mind, the song’s words meaningful. Joe was invited to an after party but started to get suspicious when he heard the demonic chanting…he was right.

(Lawyer’s comment in court of law)
Standing up in court
Stands a fool
Got his lawyer
From the available pool
He was guilty, there was no doubt
But thought a lawyer would figure out
Ways to get a sympathetic connection
To the judge by always saying “jection!”
The judge surprised, at this lack of decorum
Felt sorry for the guilty party’s forum
“Your OBjection,” the judge declared
“Was inappropriate and your client is spared…
Such flagrant use of an important word
Your client should fire you for being absurd!“

No Nonsense – Saturday Mix, 11 May 2024
Loan me your ears she might have said
Her graduation “speech” was a thing of dread
It was her private lone compilation
Words offered as a declaration
Of personal regards to her every family member
No connection to the ceremony whatsoever
And then came a reader of the grad’s names
She must have been on some slowed down game
Dragging the names out in long succession, so maudlin
Then watched slowly for every grad’s master stoles they were cloaked in
I’m only glad I’m not there in person
Couldn’t stand it- would be worsen🙄

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 11, 2024
What makes traditional Mexican fare worthy of such a distinction? You won’t find cumin soaked ground beef, hard shell tacos topped with iceberg and cheddar. But, you will find lamb barbacoa that has been smoked underground in banana leaves or carnitas topped with queso fresco, pickled onions and homemade salsa verde wrapped in a warm homemade corn tortilla that has been ever so lightly heated on a comal. And Puebla, just so happens to be considered by many, including Rick Bayless and Mark Bittman, as the gastronomic capital of Mexico.
